José Chulvi has agreed the renewal of several
agreements to provide funding to educational and cultural
institutions in Xàbia, approving a total of 105,154
euros of grants.
of the financial assistance has been approved for the
UNED centre in Dénia which will receive a grant
of 82,220 euros. Similar to the UK's Open University,
UNED is a distance learning and research university
founded in 1972 which has its headquarters in Madrid
but has campuses in all the autonomous communities of
Spain and combines traditional onsite education with
distance learning programmes. It is the largest university
in Spain and the second largest in Europe after the
Spiru Haret University in Bucharest, Romania. The Denia
centre associated with UNED was created in 1980 and
now hosts more than 2,600 students studying 27 degrees
as well as providing university extension courses during
educational institutes receiving municipal aid
are the 'Escuela de Pintura Mediterránea'
(13,962 euros) and the 'Institut d'Estudis Comarcals
de la Marina Alta' (1,500 euros). In addition, the 'Asociación
de Barques Tradicionals' receives 1,782 euros.
rest of the grants are for the parents associations
of the primary and secondary schools which will receive
financial assistance ranging between 900 and 1,400 euros for
their activities; the are the two high schools of Antonio
Llidó and IES Nº1 and the three primary
schools of CEIP El Port de Xàbia, CEIP L'Arenal
and CEIP Vicente Tena.
