Xàbia is preparing for Christmas as the first door of Advent calendars across the municipality is prised open to reveal its goodies and the Ayuntamiento has detailed its own special gifts to the town to encourage the festive spirit. Christmas decorations are soon to be put up across the three nuclei of Xàbia including three large Christmas trees in the historic centre, the port and the Arenal whilst activities are being planned especially for the youngest members of the community.

The Departments of Economic Development and of Fiestas have got together to create a festive ambiance across the town and create a special programme for the children such as the collection of letters by not only the Three Kings but also by Father Christmas. The town is to be decorated, not only to bring the festive spirit to its residents but also to encourage visitors to come to Xàbia during the Christmas period.

Three Christmas trees are being erected in front of the Ayuntamiento de Xàbia, in the Paseo del Tenista David Ferrer in the Arenal and on the promenade along the Playa de la Grava in front of Bar Clavo. These trees will be around eight metres tall with natural pine branches and will be illuminated.

In the Arenal, Christmas lights are being installed along the promenade and on the roundabouts whilst in the historic centre there will be lights in the Plaça de l'Esglèsia, the perimeter roads of Ronda Norte, Avenida Principe d'Asturias and Ronda Sur, on municipal buildings such as the Ayuntamiento and the Mercat Municipal as well as in main streets and squares.

In a country where the Three Kings are the ones who bear gifts for the children, the recent incursion of Father Christmas has prompted the Ayuntamiento to invite him to visit to all three nuclei to collect any letters from the children. His schedule begins on Thursday 17th December in the Paseo del Tenista David Ferrer and will continue on the morning on Friday 18th December in the historic centre and in the afternoon of the same day in the port.

The royal pages of the Three Kings will also be visiting Xàbia to collect letters from the children, firstly on Tuesday 29th December inside the Mercat Municipal and then on Saturday 2nd January at the church of Loreto in the port. As usual, the Kings themselves will be visited the town, arriving by fishing boat during the early evening of Tuesday January 5th for the traditional parade through the streets. This year they have been promised some changes to previous editions and more details will be revealed soon.

This weekend, the festive season kicks off with the Christmas Craft Fair and Shopping X-Days campaign in the historic centre of Xàbia.
