Cansalades Park, most commonly known as Pinosol Park,
has a new children's play zone after the much-hyped
playground was finally opened for business. The area,
which was remodelled at the request of the Consell dels
Xiquets - the Children's Council of Xàbia - has
a large central structure with slides and fun elements
as well as other games for younger children and benches
for resting for a few moments.
Wednesday afternoon, the Ayuntamiento de Xàbia
opened the new zone after the conclusion of the improvement
work which has taken place over the past few months
and has been totally funded by the Diputación
de Alicante. Mayor José Chulvi explained that
the project has been especially exciting as it emerged
as a specific request from the Consell dels Xiquets,
a participatory body involving kids from all the schools
in Xàbia which has also seen other requests become
reality such as the skate park at Portal del Clot and
the "Camins Escolars", a project currently
being worked on which will help children walk to school
by designated safe routes.
new playground zone at Pinosol offers a completely new
image for the popular outdoor space which is a firm
favourite with families for informal celebrations. In
addition to the play zone and picnic areas, there are
areas for barbecue (although this it only allowed when
there is a low fire risk) and a kiosk with bar.
opening ceremony was attended by councillors of the
departments involved such as Cesc Camprubi, the former
councillor responsible for Citizen Participation who
has been replaced by Montse Villaverde, and Doris Courcelles,
councillor responsible for Parks and Gardens.
