4th October 2013
second edition of the popular "La Mar de Tapas"
event returns to the port area of Jávea for the
holiday weekend, promoting tasty local cuisine as well
as music and entertainment. The 'Business Association
of Xàbia Port' has been making the preparations
for the event over the weekend of 11th, 12th and 13th
October, encouraged by the huge success of the first
edition in 2012. And since the nation will be celebrating
its national day during the weekend, the organisers
hope that it will provide a good incentive to enjoy
the port and its many offerings over the three day period
which will also include an opening evening of late-night
shopping with discounts and surprises.
twenty bars and restaurants will be participating this
year (see the map below for more details) with tickets
priced at 1,50€ for drinks (small beer or wine) and
1,80€ for the food dishes. These venues promise to provide
quality tapas based around fish and seafood such as
tuna, anchovies, shrimp, cod, scallops, octopus, shrimp
and other delicious snacks from the bay. Some of more
interesting dishes on offer include 'Octopus Mousse
with Crunchy Smoothhound Shark' from Ay'Carmela, 'Shrimp
Curry with Whisky' from L'Almadrava and 'Prawn and Fish
with Crunchy Roast Corn' from Montgo di Bongo who will
have an outlet working from the port promenade.
will be music and entertainment in the streets around
the port and Avda. Jaume I where the tickets for the
food and drink can be purchased. A new attraction for
2013 is a 'beer bike' on Saturday lunchtime,
an curious mix of pedals and alcohol in which the
beer drinkers provide the muscle power to propel the
vehicle (driven by a non-drinker, of course) through
the streets of the port.
event will be open from 12.30pm until 3.00pm and then
7.30pm until 11.00pm on Friday 11th October and
Saturday 12th October - the 'Fiesta Nacional de España'
- and then from 12.30pm until 3.00pm on Sunday 13th
October. (The organisers have advised that some
establishments may work to different opening and closing
times and that the tapas may be served on the terrace
or at the bar of the venue.)
Ponce, president of the 'Business Association of Xàbia
Port', has invited all residents and visitors to come
and enjoy the opportunity to experience the warm hospitality
of its members whilst councillor Juan Luis Cardona (Economic
Development), whose department has supported the initiative
once again, congratulated the association for staging
the event and wished them great success.
