Mig Any Mare de Déu de Loreto will fill Duanes de la Mar with fiesta fun
The half year celebrations will take place in Avenida Jaime I on the afternoon of Saturday 22nd March.
The Fiesta Commission of Mare de Déu de Loreto is once again organising a day of celebration in Duanes de la Mar. On Saturday 22nd March, the seafaring zone will once again be dressed up for the celebration of the ‘Mig Any‘ – the ‘half year’ – of the patron saint festivities in honour of the Mare de Déu de Loreto. After ten years, it has become an eagerly awaited event that brings together many people each spring.
The objective of the celebrations that the Fiesta Commission organises is to maintain the high level of recent years with a complete programme designed for all audiences and offering a celebration that lives up to what this centenary festivity deserves.
The heart of the celebrations will once again be the square in the middle of Avenida Jaime I. There, once again, the members of the Fiesta Commission will give their best to ensure that everyone attending the event will enjoy themselves. And, as in previous years, the commission has organised the celebrations during the day in order to be considerate to the local residents, so the programme will end at 8pm.
The programme includes the adaptation, on a smaller scale, of some of the popular events that take place during the patron saint festivities such as simultaneous chess, Valencian pilota, children’s activities and, of course, the Baret dels Bous a la Mar. All with music, fireworks and a good atmosphere.
The programme is as follows:
08:30 – Despertà (‘wake up call’ through the streets of Duanes de la Mar by the Fiesta Commission and the Peñas Marineras. During procession, a floral offering will be made to the image of Mare de Déu de Loreto.
11:00 · Valencian Pilota: Raspall. Sergio, Tomaca and Danone against Luca, Canella and Agustín in Calle Virgen de Loreto. Organised by the Club de Pilota Xàbia
11:00 · Simultaneous Chess on the square of Avenida Jaime I, organised by the Club d’Escacs Xàbia.
11:30 · Inflatables and children’s activities for all boys and girls.
11:30 · Grand opening of the BARET DELS BOUS on the square of Avenida Jaime I.
13:30 · Awards ceremony for the photography contest held during the 2024 festivities.
14:30 · Valencian paella on offer at popular prices (while stocks last).
17:00 · TARDEO MARINER with live music from ‘Glop Esponja’ and their repertoire of the best Spanish pop-rock hits from the 80s to the present.
