Mayor José Chulvi welcomed the ambassador of the Czech Republic in Spain, Ivan Jančárek, who has been interested in the Czech community settled in Xàbia, and has declared his willingness to encourage tourism from his country to the town, to which has been described as a safe and highly attractive destination.

The meeting was also attended by the councillor of resident attention, Doris Courcelles.

Jancárek’s visit coincided with a date of great symbolism for his country, since November 17th 1989 was the beginning of the Velvet Revolution of the then Republic of Czechoslovakia, a peaceful process of protests that ended six weeks later with the end of four decades of communist rule.
