Just over 1,800 students begin the new school year in Xàbia this Thursday

Next week the expansion of Trenc d’Alba will begin.

The schools of Xàbia have finalized the preparations for the start of the 2021-2022 school year which starts on Thursday 9th September (today Wednesday 8th is a local bank holiday). According to provisional data provided by the regional Department of Education, there will be a total of 1,809 boys and girls enrolled in public and private educational centres in the municipality.

CEIP L’Arenal will have the most students with 419 children enrolled, including those attending the new two-year old classroom, the first in Xàbia. CEIP Mediterrània will have 391 students enrolled, CEIP Graüll 358, the Colegio María Inmaculada private school, CEIP Port de Xàbia 216, and CEIP Trenc d’Alba will have 208 students.

Trenc d’Alba Work

In the last school, CEIP Trenc d’Alba, the expansion project which forms part of the regional government’s Plan Edificant programme will begin next week, work that involves construction of a new dining room and a new gymnasium as well as the reform and expansion of the kitchen, renovation of bathrooms and plumbing facilities, and the renovation of the children’s playground.

The 1 million euro project will be carried by Binaria Construcciones who will working mainly outside of the school – on the old site of the urban gardens and parking – which is where the dining room and the gymnasium will be built. Any work that directly affects the current building, such as the renovation of the bathrooms and the plumbing, have been programmed that they don’t affect school life, focused on holiday periods such as Christmas, Easter, and at the end of June.
