Javea Players: Murder – He Wrote
Javea Players summer show returns to Little Grimley with the added attraction of a pre-show tapas meal.

Jávea Players’ popular summer show is again written by David Tristam, who has established himself as one of the UK’s most popular playwrights. His plays have been performed worldwide, more than an amazing 10,000 times. That equates to someone somewhere performing one of his shows every single night for the past 30 years!
His Little Grimley series has become a hit with Amateur Dramatic Societies everywhere. Asked whether his characters were based on real-life people, he admitted that comedy comes from people whom we’ve probably all met at some point. Not surprisingly, he was once on an amateur theatre committee, “so the ingredients were right there. It just required a sprinkling of exaggeration to heighten the conflict”.
We have the same four characters, although with a couple of changes due to other commitments. Meglomaniac Chairman, Gordon, is played by Nigel Poole [a completely different role from being the accused in Rough Justice]. His nemesis, Margaret, is reprised by Caroline Drewitt-Mansell, who loves theatre, but always expects to be the star of every performance. Lesley Davies also returns as timid Joyce who is keen and enthusiastic, but sadly devoid of talent. Bernard, reprised by Brian Mattes, is blunt and somewhat of a bumbler, who really doesn’t want to be on stage, probably shouldn’t be, but somehow often is. A welcome newcomer to Jávea Players is Matias Taranto, who plays Sam.
Prior to the suspense of who is murdered, you will enjoy a culinary delight at Bar Imperial. Their delicious 7-course tapas al fresco dinner is more than an appetiser for Murder in Little Grimley, which will be performed in the Casa de Cultura.
Dinner starts at 19.00, followed by the play at 21.00. Murder in Little Grimley, 30th June-5th July, tickets cost €27. For full details, see www.javeaplayers.com.
