International tourism to the Valencian region reaches record levels in May
The Regional Minister of Tourism confirmed that “these figures are the highest ever for the month of May in the Comunidad Valenciana”

International tourism reached record figures in the Comunidad Valenciana in May, registering €1.391 billion in tourist spending, 4.94% more than the previous year, spent by a total of 1,197,429 tourists, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.12%.
According to the results of the surveys published this past weel by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) regarding Tourist Movements at the Border (FRONTUR) and the Tourist Expenditure Survey (EGATUR), the Comunidad Valenciana has recorded the highest ever foreign tourism figures for a month of May.
Furthermore, each foreign tourist spent €1,162 in the region during the month of May, an average daily spend per person of €133, with an average trip duration of 8.7 days, 4.2% higher than in May 2024.
The Regional Minister for Innovation, Industry, Trade, and Tourism, Marián Cano, positively assessed these international tourism results, which confirm historic figures for the region, highlighting that “these figures, the highest for a month of May in the Comunidad Valenciana, reflect positive progress and demonstrate the destination’s positioning in the international market“.
“Beyond the increase in the number of visitors, the most significant aspect is the greater growth in spending,” she added, emphasizing that “this is one of the important qualitative trends we want to maintain,” as it is an indicator of greater added value and sustainability of the tourism model that the regional government is committed to.
She also explained that the regional ministry, through Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, “are working intensively to ensure that tourism is an economic driver year-round” and therefore “we will continue working to promote the region to maintain and enhance this growth in the coming months“.
Cumulative Results 2025
Regarding the cumulative data from January to May 2025, the same surveys from FRONTUR and EGATUR show that the Comunidad Valenciana attracted a total of 4,441,582 foreign tourists, 6.32% more than in the same period in 2024, whilst spending by foreign tourists in the region during the first five months of 2025 reached €5.384 billion, a 7.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
