Family donates works of poet José Albi to Xàbia library

The collection includes his doctoral thesis on Valencian painter Joan de Joanes and his artistic circle, which was published in 1979.

The Public Library in Xàbia has received a valuable donation from the family of poet José Albi, made up of 17 publications by the prestigious author.

It was Fernando Albi, son of the writer, who made this donation in which number 23 of the magazine Zerbo, published in 1952, stands out in which José Albi was a director and in which he signed a monograph together with Joan Fuster about surrealism.

The Library explained that the collection also includes his doctoral thesis on Valencian painter Joan de Joanes and his artistic circle, which was published in 1979 as well as books of poems written between 1960 and 1990, and 2000-2008. The volumes are in addition to those by the author will already appear in the local collection in the library and will serve to disseminate the poet’s work and make it better known.

José Albi Fita was born in Valencia in 1922. He has always been closely linked to Xàbia, where he dies in 2010. He is considered one of the best post-war poets and was awarded the Generalitat Valencianana Prize for Literature in 2002 as well as the Lluis Guarner award from the Ministry of Culture in 1999.
