Hot on the heels of the announcement of the closure of Restaurante Piri-Piri in the port, another renowned venue, this time in the heart of historic centre, has announced on its social media networks that it is also to close its doors for good.

Restaurante Embruix has been closed since January for a winter break, announcing that it would be returning in March with the return of the good weather and the arrival of spring. But this week, a post on their social media announced that it would be closing permanently. The response to the news has been one of shock since the bar-restaurant is one of the most charming venues in the old town, popular with both locals and tourists alike.

Embruix offered 17 years of dedication and effort, one of the first establishments that opted to revitalize Calle Mayor, to weather a hard time for commerce during the renovation of the historic centre and one to offer a new gastronomic incentive of quality at a time when the menus of many restaurants offered everything, but few specialized..

It has been a benchmark in many ways and has always been in favour of revitalizing the historic centre. Proof of this was the determined participation in each of the tapas organized by the Xàbia Histórica business association. The restaurant’s stand was always a mandatory stop for attendees due to its delicious offerings and, obviously, its spectacular mille-feuille, which had already become a must at every event.

But it has also become a cultural and festive meeting space hosting literary presentations, concerts of all kinds, monologues and joining all kinds of activities that could be linked to gastronomy and enjoyment with friends.

In their statement of social media, the Ortuño family expresses their “deep gratitude to all the people who have been part of Embruix and of course to our clients for their support and trust.” Gratitude, as always with any resident who decides to bet, create and invest in Xàbia, which is shared, for having been a pioneer and having wanted to revitalize the heart of Xàbia in every way.
