Tomorrow Friday 26th February, Xàbia Council will be accepting applications for one of the 44 temporary jobs on offer through the 2021 Social Employment Plan.

Over a million euros have been put aside to fund the plan, which forms part of the Recuperem Xàbia initiative, and offers 44 positions including general labouring, cleaning, caretaking, forestry work and public works which will be dedicated to forest fire prevention work, the maintenance of green areas and ravines, as well as maintenance tasks and caretaking services in municipal buildings.

The initiative is part of the municipal effort to meet the demands of the social emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and complements the one that is managed on a daily basis by Social Services which addresses emergency assistance to families without an income or find themselves in a precarious position.

Through this specific employment plan, the Council aims to not only provide economic security to people who are going through a bad time in terms of employment, but also to lift their self-esteem and confidence as well as improve their opportunities to enter the labour market and giving them an opportunity to improve the image and services of their town.

Those interested have until March 17th to register their application at the OAC offices in Portal del Clot (Avenida Trenc d’Alba) and this can be done by prior appointment, which should be requested by either telephone on 965 790 500 or by filling out the form on the town hall website.

The conditions of the employment plan can be consulted on the municipal website.

To qualify for consideration, applicants need to have been registered with the public employment service for at least one month, not be receiving any unemployment benefits or subsidies, be Spanish or any nationality with free movement of workers. Applications will be assessed on the time of unemployment, being part of a family which has been benefiting from emergency aid from Social Services, being head of a large family, that the household includes other unemployed, having a mortgage or paying rent in Xàbia, being a single-parent family, or having a dependent relative. Previous experience will also be considered.
