CD Pedreguer 0-0 CD Jávea

It was a tricky game between CD Pedreguer and CD Jávea, played out on a bumpy pitch and in a wind that refused to allow both sides to play to their full potential, Jávea having it in their favour in the first half.

Neither side managed to dominate in the opening period and real opportunities on goal were few and far between, with the first chance for the rojiblancos arriving after 30 minutes when a corner from Javí Hernández struck the opposition’s goalpost. Minutes later, Luis Carlos tried his luck with a close-range shot but his effort was well blocked by the defence. The hosts also had their chances, albeit coming in the final minutes of the first half through Cabo, the first being snatched effort directed straight into the arms of Edu whilst the second was blocked by Paco.

The second-half was dominated by CD Jávea. Head coach Diego Miñana made two changes at half-time, bringing of the tenacious midfielder Ferrán for defender Marcos, and the springy winger Álvaro for Juan Soler. They had an immediate effect. The first chance of the second period came after Álvaro passed the ball deep to Luis Carlos, who then crossed to Guerrero but his shot, having beaten the keeper, crashed into the post.

The inclusion of Álvaro clearly gave CD Jávea more bite but it couldn’t be translated into goals. The best chance of the second half came from a penalty award but Guerrero had to watch as his spot kick was stopped by the keeper Gauchi then Sánchez firing over the bar after a scramble inside the box. Yet, for the all the perceived dominated of the rojiblancos, Pedreguer had their chance to claim all three points in the final moments of the game, but Rodri could only fire his effort into the side netting. It was Jávea who would have the last opportunity of the game after substitute Jorrin crossed into the centre for Guerrero but his effort couldn’t be rewarded.
