The owner of the Botánico restaurant has issued a brief statement in which it regrets the situation in which the venue has been closed and assures that all its customers and friends that “we do not understand what has happened”.

The owner explained that they bought the business 11 years ago, the first restaurant in the Arenal with a history stretching back some 40 years, and then asked their lawyer for a license which was pending. “He told me that is normal in Xàbia.”

All this time, the owner continues, “I have paid fees, projects and sound level studies,” a whole process that “has not allowed me to get the license.”

“At Botánico there is nothing dangerous, we do everything to improve the situation and for our customers to enjoy a good time with us as well as our food”.

They added that “after the pandemic we are in a weak situation, we have employees, one of them from Ukraine and he has his family to take care of Ukraine and the authorities help them by closing the business?”

The owner hopes to be able to solve all the problems, finish getting the license and reopen the business. While that is coming, their other venue, Botánico Beauty, located in front of the Mongo di Bongo, is open to customers.

The other affected venue, SALT, issued a brief statement on its Facebook page in which it confirmed that it has had to close for a few days due to a delay in paperwork from the courts but be assured its customer that it would re-open by Tuesday or Wednesday, adding that “we have been doing all we can but delays are inevitable”.
