The Guardia Civil and Local Police intercepted 13 migrants who landed by boat in Cala del Portitxol on Tuesday morning. They were intercepted by the security forces in Carretera del Portitxol after reports to the Guardia Civil from several residents in the area.

Although initial report suggested that around 15 to 20 people had dispersed through the area, official sources have confirmed that 13 people, aged between 18 and 20, were located after trying to hide in the streets of La Guardia. Having little knowledge of the area, the police forces were able to find and intercept them.

Gathered together in the urbanization of La Cala, the migrants received attention from staff of the Cruz Roja de Xàbia; one of them required assistance for a hand injury.

During the afternoon, they were transferred to the Port of Alicante, where they will be subject to PCR testing and procedures will be opened for them to be returned to their country of origin.
