Report:
Mark Catlin Use of the word ‘friendly’ could certainly not be used when
describing this game!
In excess of 8 yellow cards and one red (and it could have
been much more) was testament to the fighting spirit shown by both teams. CD
Jávea were no angels, Pablo and Carlos Ribes both played the game as if it was
a ‘cup final’, going in for tackles as if their lives depended on it, not
sensible but at least shows that CD Jávea will not be lacking any fighting
spirit this coming season!
The ‘rojiblancos’ dominated the early play without really
creating any clear cut opportunities. This changed on 15 minutes when a CD
Jávea counter attack led to Alex losing his marker and finding room on the
right wing, he cut into the area, skipped past a defender and had only the
goalkeeper between him and the goal, or alternatively a pass to Carlos Ribes
who was on his own 2 metres from the goal-line. Alex delayed for a second and
by the time he crossed to Carlos an Alberic defender managed to block Carlos’s
shot.
Carlo and Alex worked tirelessely up front but it was the
wings of Carlos Ribes and Puncho that was causing most problems to the home
team.
As the half progressed it was actually Alberic that took
control of the game, ex-Jávea player Toni Burguette having the best chance of
the game for Alberic, and only solid defending from Juanma and Jorge managed to
keep the score at 0-0 going into half time.
The second half continued with Alberic in control but this
gradually changed and the pace of the game seemed to take its toll on them as
CD Jávea began to create chance after chance. Puncho went past 3 Alberic
players and let loose with a ferocious shot that everyone thought had gone in,
but had actually only hit the side netting.
Alberic became more and more desperate and this resulted in
a red card for them with 5 minutes remaining. A cynical foul on Puncho
effectively ruled him out of the game, and despite striker Juanito causing the
home team problems a draw was probably a fair result for both teams.
