IMPORTANT
WIN FOR JAVEA Goals from David Ivars and Duque secure
victory
With the Costa Blanca Marinas missing the attrocious Atlantic storms the
Javea fans trooped down to Aspe looking for critical points on a mild Sunday
evening. The game was played at the impressive Monfort Stadium with Aspe,s own
ground under reconstruction.
Aspe started strong on the back of a good result against Benissa last week,
with the home teams left flank of Samuel and Box making inroads into Javea's
territory. Once again the rojiblancos had five team changes but it was a
pleasant surprise to see crowd favourite Rubén Serrío back from injury after a
long lay off. The game was turning into a long ball event certainly not suited
to Javea's football nature and for once the midfield pairing of Ivars and
Youssapha failed to get a grip on the game.
Most of the early goal threats were coming from Aspe but the presence of
Julio Ivorra was more than a match for the Aspe forwards. A good break down the right by Dino and a fine cross saw Onieva skimming
the crossbar when he could have done better, but David Ivars made
amends on the quarter hour with a deft chip over the Aspe's keeper Fernando to
put the rojiblancos 1 - 0 up against the run of play. Javea played out the
remainder of the first half with their backs to the wall and were probably
pleased to see the ref blow for half time.
Javea had a player change after the break with Pablo replacing Dino who
suffered an ankle injury. The second half proceeded in the same vein witn neither side
being dominant and clear chances were minimal. Early cautions for Pablo and David
Ivars took some sting out of the game. A strange event was a clash between
Javea's Aldo and the home teams Pana. Pana was booked, Aldo left the field
injured, replaced by Valentín and the ref awarded the free kick to Aspe; the
fans loved that one!
Aspe started to feed the impressive Samuel more of the ball and he caused
havoc down the left flank with Jordi not able to match the wingers pace. Stand
up and be counted time for Javea as they rode the storm with Ivorra and keeper
Ortola outstanding. The period of pressure slowed when Samuel was booked for an elbow on
Jordi.
A fine through ball by Pablo put Onieva clear on goal, keeper to beat,
when he was brought down for a stone wall penalty but the ref turned him down and
returned to book him for diving. The rojiblancos needed some fresh legs and coach Jose Luis sent on Duque
and new signing Óscar for Cardona and Onieva.
Óscar, who had a spell on Javea's books two seasons ago, is a big lad and
immediately got into his stride and, along with Duque's speed also causing problems for
Aspe's medium paced centre backs, the game turned in Javea's favour.
A spell of bookings proceeded and Aspe responded with bringing on new blood
to regain the initiative but the rojiblancos were now in control of the midfield
play. An inswinging free kick taken by Valentín, that had been won by Pablo was
finished by Duque with the slightest of touch and the ball settled in
Aspe's net for a second and final goal of the game.
They don't come much harder than this as the lower placed teams begin the
big fight to avoid the drop zone. Next week we entertain Alone Guardamar for what could be considered a six
pointer, as they are so close to Javea in the table. The rojiblancos need your
support. See you there!!
