POOR
OFFICIALS BLIGHT YET ANOTHER MATCH Match
Report by El Tel
It was a journey into the unknown for the 'rojiblancos' and certainly a test
of their minds and bodies in a bruising encounter at top-of-the-table UD Horadada. A rare pre-match interview with reclusive coach
Jose Luis Bisquert revealed he saw the game as a "no-win situation", happy to come away
with his players intact to face next week's opponents FC Jove Español 'B'. If this was
his pre-match team-talk, it definitely worked for CD Javea came out storming,
running themselves into the ground and in doing so suffered from
the extreme physical
playing style of the opposition.
The game was only
five minutes old when an Horadada long ball was cleared by Javea's
Ortolà, only for 14 stone of centre-forward to follow through with an horrendous
tackle that left the club's most important talisman prostrate on the ground. The travelling fans
that made the long journey south were anxious as a loss of such
an outstanding goalkeeper
would have been catastrophic for club's attempts to consolidate their position
in the Preferente after the turmoil of the first half
of the season. It was many minutes before he lifted
himself gingerly to his feet to continue the game, his
assailant going unpunished. Incredibly the same
dangerous tackle was twice repeated on Dino and captain Julio Ivorra in the next
quarter-of-an-hour and again fouls were given but no further warning reaction from the referee, Señor
Climent López.
Horadada had the better of the first half, with Iván López
a constant threat for Javea but their efforts were limited to
just two strikes on goal. Meanwhile the
'rojiblancos' stifled their host's midfield play and José Luis's decision to play
Pablo up front with Onieva as link man was a stroke of genius. Pablo created
havoc with his pace on the long ball and a back-peddling defence.
Horadada's first-class strikes on goal by Alfonso and Chuecos were dealt
with in the usual dependable Ortolà style, frustrating their attacking moves and motivating
CD Javea's play. And it was Javea who opened the scoring when Valentín slotting a ball through to
Ezquerdo who played an accurate cross for Pablo to finish from close in. The
reaction from the home side was to continue their physical play with late tackles flying
in but ignored by Señor López. However it was Javea's Julio Ivorra who took the first card of the game
with an accidental hand ball giving the home side a chance to equalise but the
attempt was dealt
with by the wall and the first-half finished with Javea boasting a single goal
advantage.
If you expected the 'rojiblancos' to sit back on their lead
then you should know
better. The restart saw a fierce fast pace game from both sides with Horadada's Iván
López outstanding although matched by the constant threat of the 'rojiblancos' modified
strike force. The continued physical play saw successive follow-through fouls on
Ivorra and Valentín, resulting in the long-awaited booking of the major offender
Obama. The best early goal strikes fell to Javea with a Onieva header that
shaved the post and a stunning drive from Pablo that the keeper Juanjo turned
round the post for a corner.
With Horadada's threat receding, the bullish Obama
was withdrawn by the home side coach. What followed was amazing: the player pushed his
coach, kicked the chairs out onto the playing area before eventually retreating down the tunnel.
Yet there was not one word from the referee, a
reaction that speaks for
itself.
Motivated Javea still swept forward with a superb defence-splitting pass
from Jordi saw Onieva chest the ball down, swivel and hit a stunning strike from
20 metres that saw Juanjo glued to the spot as the ball flew into the back of
the net to hand the 'rojiblancos' an amazing two-goal
advantage.
Horadada were frantic to hit back but
wave after wave of attacks were dealt with by the efficient Javea defence. However
the
game was turned around ten minutes from time when the referee made a bewildering decision that
nobody saw except him. A goalmouth mêlée resulted in a blocked shot by Ortolà
that rebounded to Horadada's Nacho who blazed the ball over the bar from the edge of the six-yard box to Javea's
relief. However it would short-lived when the referee pointed to the
spot for a penalty. Even the home team were bemused as the official booked Javea's Femenía for
protesting.`The well-struck penalty found the right-hand corner despite Ortolà's
valiant attempt when he got his
fingertips to the ball and was furious to be beat.
The 'rojiblancos' reaction was positive and a well-weighted chip over the
home side defence saw Onieva break through onside and make it into Horadada's goal
area. A blocking tackle by Campillo saw the ball spin into space with Valentín
following up. As he reached the ball, he was pulled and tackled from behind for a
certain penalty but the claim was waived away by the man in the middle. The final minutes
of the game were even more perplexing and a disputed quick free kick and
back-peddling Javea defence saw a long range shot hit the back of the net with Ortolà
unsighted to bring the home side level to 2-2.
The game was now into stoppage time when
Ezquerdo broke down the left flank, a bone-shattering tackle by the home full-back on the winger saw him
crunched on the line with a potentially-serious injury eventually leaving the field for
hospital. But the referee initially took no action and incredibly allowed Horadada to
take a quick throw-in which was played on to Iván López who
in turn won a foul on the edge of the box. The crowd and
Javea's management at last attracted the bumbling referee to the plight of the injured
young winger. The whole incident was a disgrace with the official disgracefully urging the physio to
remove the youngster from the pitch, a move which could have made his injury
worse.
The game was brought back to the free kick and a shot from Iván López
broke through the wall to snuggle in Javea's net. Five minutes of stoppage time
had been played and Javea's commanding lead had been
swept away in just a quarter of an hour helped once
again by utter incompetence from the officials.
Five
games without a win see the 'rojiblancos' slipping down
into 12th spot, the lowest position of the season for
CD Javea with the relegation zone just five points away.
Javea have had an unbelievable run of bad fortune
and next
week host fellow strugglers FC Jove Español San Vicente 'B' in what surely has
become "must-win" situation. The lads need the undisputed
support of the Javea faithful to be at their loudest and best to spur them on
to victory. The performance against Horadada shows clearly
that they can adapt when they put their mind to it.
