ASPE PULL LADDER FROM UNDER JAVEA

Another stuttering performance by the Rojoblancos gifted a point to the visitors, slowing the climb for a play off spot. To be fair Aspe were more resolute in work rate and ball winning, undermining Javea's free flow playing style.

The first half play was locked in midfield neither side progessing much goalwards. Star wingman and skipper David Ivars was the first to go close with a rasping strike that grazed the upright, followed by a Cissoko classic overhead effort that deserved better. However Javea went a goal down on the stroke of half time when Aspe,s striker Carlos glanced an inswinging corner past the fingertips of Ortola for a fine finish.

A justified inquest by coach Jose Luis saw a much inspired team set the standard for the second half. The rojiblancos forced a succession of of free kicks but the delivery constantly found the temple of Aspe's centre back Yane. It was Ruben Serrio who finally broke the mould with an inch perfect cross that found Pablo Irigoyen at the near post to level the score.

As is often the case Javea were still celerbrating when a rare attack by Aspe's wing forward Cesar saw him outleap Lyn Davies by at least a metre to steal a penalty which David fiercely despatched. But showing great character Javea quickly resumed the pressure on Aspe and within minutes the Rojoblancos were awarded a penalty resulting in David Ivars sending Aspe's Pedro the wrong way for the equaliser.

The visitors were now defending for their lives and a succession of bookings by Senor Martinez Garcia, followed with Aspe,s coach being sent to the stands. With the play constantly interrupted Javea could not regain the initiative and the game petered out to a  2 - 2 draw, a first point away from hoem for UD Aspe this season.

Once again Jose Luis finds himself with key players missing so early in the season. This coupled with the shock departure of crowd favourite Javi to the Bundesliga. The club can only wish him well and every success in this career development.
