Coach José Luis might
be feeling a little pressure after CD Javea put
in a very average performance to share the spoils with
Pinoso CF, writes Mike Smith for www.javeamigos.com.
Although it's still early days for the young coach,
the last two games have seen the rojiblancos gain just
one point from six and slip further behind the leading
pack. And a potential banana skin of a game awaits
this coming weekend against bottom club Hercules CF
'B', a game Javea cannot afford to lose.
After
being relegated to the bench against Thader, many
fans were happy to see striker Onieva return to the
starting line-up. Yet an unfamiliar name leapt from
the teamsheet as youngster Isaac was promoted from
the ranks of the Juvenil to make his debut for
the rojiblancos at the expense of Scott, who had to
be content with taking his normal place on the bench.
Alongside the Englishman was centre-half Jordi, impressive
in the opening few weeks of the season but dropped in
favour of youngster Feliu. There's no doubt about it;
Jose Luis is going to do things his way.
Javea
might have taken the lead as early as the 6th minute
when David Ivars found space on the left to lob in a
high cross but Isaac wasn't quite tall enough to connect
and the ball sailed past the crowded area and out for
a goal-kick. And that was really the only chance of
the opening half-an-hour as both teams looked decidedly
ragged across the park.
Things
livened up the remaining quarter-of-an-hour of the first
half. First skipper Javi shaved a few millimetres
of paint off the left-hand upright with a powerful shot before
a free-kick from the left-hand side by Dino, making
his first start of the season, caused mayhem in the
six-yard box and the ball rebounded off a Pinoso head
and into the net to put the rojiblancos into the lead
at half-time.
The
second-half brought some better play from Javea with
both Youssoupha and Onieva going to close to doubling
the advantage. You felt that the rojiblancos needed
this second goal to give themselves a bit of breathing
space as Pinoso looked more than capable of nicking
an equaliser and Alberto shot just wide of the left
post with twenty minutes remaining.
Jose
Luis decided to shuffle the pack and Gerardo came on
for Isaac whilst Scott replaced Onieva. Pinoso continued
to look dangerous and certain to level the scores with
Alexis coming very close to doing so with five minutes
remaining. Then, with the minutes ticking away, Pinoso
finally found the equaliser when Hugo picked up the
ball on the left-hand side and charged into the area
and slid the ball past the advancing Ortola who could
only watch as it rolled across the line and into the
net.
A draw
might have been a fair reflection on the game but, once
again, Javea have found themselves unable to kill off
the opposition when in control. Those teams pulling
away at the top of the table have found that killer
touch to blow away their opponents; the rojiblancos
need to do the same.
