NEW coach José Luis will have to wait for his first win as CD Javea stumbled to defeat on a wet lunchtime in Rojales, writes Terry Bradshaw for www.javeamigos.com.

A new coach will always want to instill his own way of doing things but José's decision to drop leading scorer Onieva raised a few eyebrows amongst the loyal travelling fans that made the relatively long trip south through some awful weather. Englishman Scott was handed his first start of the season in place on Onieva whilst both skipper Julio Ivorra and new signing Vicente also found themselves in the starting XI for the first time.

Javea started well, attacking the opposition strongly from the start, and within three minutes they had taken the lead through David Ivars. Some great control from Gerardo resulted in the lanky midfielder putting in a fine cross into the middle where Scott connected well to drive a header towards goal. The keeper spilled the ball and David Ivars was quick enough to finish from a tight angle and give the rojiblancos the lead.

However the goal inspired Thader and Javea began to lose their way a little, giving away the ball far too eagerly at times. The inevitable equaliser arrived on 12 minutes with a terrific shot from Avilés that eluded goalkeeper Jorge, who was making his final appearance for the rojiblancos. The boisterous custodian made amends three minutes later by saving another penalty, his second block of the season.

Thader were fighting hard and taking few prisoners, restricting Javea to a single effort on target from David Ivars, the keeper Parra pulling off a fantastic save to keep the scores level. A succession of heavy tackles attracted a succession of yellow cards until Valentín was subjected to a particularly horrific tackle from Avilés just before half-time which saw Thader reduced to ten men. Yet it would be the home side who would go ahead just on half-time when Musta poked the ball home through a goalmouth melee after a long throw caused chaos in the Javea six-yard box.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Thader began the second half looking much sharper than the rojiblancos before Javea began to exert pressure using the extra man and started to gain much more possession on the ball. However the final ball was always lacking in quality. Yet, on the stroke of full-time, the Javea players thought that they had equalised as they all pushed for a goal, including goalkeeper Jorge, but the referee Javier Garcia waved away desperate appeals.

A draw would have been a fair result so these were three more points squandered by CD Javea. Coach José will need to lift his team for this Sunday's home game against Pinoso CF, kick-off 5.00pm, in order to keep the rojiblancos in touch with the early pace-settsers.
