CD JAVEA cruised to victory over Albatera CF to lift themselves into sixth spot as the league table begins to take shape. Goals from skipper Javi, Gerardo and Cissoko plus an own goal from Albatera's Trope secured maximum points and the first home victory of the season. The celebrations were somewhat muted however as it was confirmed that coach Kenny Brown would be leaving the club to take up an offer from England. With a very limited budget, Kenny has moulded a very competent side which has drawn plenty of praise from even the most critical of fans. Hopefully the new coach with continue the good work and the departure will not upset the confidence of the team.

It doesn't do well to turn up late to a match involving CD Javea. For the third game in succession, the first goal arrived in the opening minutes when skipper Javi was put through by Yousso and the midfielder comfortably fired past the keeper to put the home side into an early lead. Minutes later Cissoko might have doubled the advantage when he met a superb corner from David Ivars but the Albatera keeper pulled off a superb point-blank save akin to Shay Given's block in the Manchester derby just a few hours before.

And then the rojiblancos started to make a very bad side look undeservedly average when they lost their way during the middle third of the first half. Although they rarely threatened the Javea goal, an occasional foray into the area might have pulled of an unlikely equaliser. Jorge was having one of his better-off-forgotten performances between the sticks, punching erratically and looking occasionally shaky when under pressure. He is one of the finest young keepers at this level but his concentration has a tendency to wander now and then. In the continued absence of a suitable contender for his position, Jorge remains our first and only choice in goal.

Just before half-time, the rojiblancos finally got the breathing space that their early domination deserved when Gerardo, still not quite fully fit after illness, picked up the ball in the centre of the park and strode confidentally past some weak tackles to charge into the box and slot home to give Javea a solid lead at the break.

Julio Ivorra made a welcome return, coming on for the tiring Brad at half-time, the club skipper firing up his team-mates to crush the opposition. The rojiblancos took command but it wasn't until well into the second-half that they found a chance to extend their lead. Onieva, eager as ever to score goals, chased another superb ball from Cissoko but the keeper pulled off a fine block to deny the striker from extending his tally for the season. Minutes later George, on for the injured Gerardo, pulled off a fine cross at the line which Albatera's Trape managed to convert into his own net to hand javea a three-goal lead.

George came very close to opening his account for the club seconds after the re-start but his effort inched agonisingly wide of the right-hand post. Three minutes later popular utility man Cissoko made it 4-0 with a fine goal after meeting a gret low cross from Onieva. The rout was completed but it could have been so much more.

In his last post-match comments as Javea coach, Kenny said that, for some reason, his players thought that it was going to be too easy and that they tried to be too clever and took too much time on the ball. "We should have scored more goals," he told www.javeamigos.com. "We had enough chances and the game should have been over after the first ten minutes. Albatera didn't threaten our goal and never really looked like scoring."
