A
THIRD win in three games lifts CD Javea
to within three points of the promotion
play-off zone and hauls the campaign
firmly back on track. Two goals
from SCOTT and a strike from DAVID IVARS
secured the three points against a side
that played with ten men for much of
the game and coach Kenny Brown must
be happy that his side is starting to
look like winners once again. With two
tough away games against UD Canals and
CE Alberic to come in the next fortnight,
nine points from the last three games
sends the right message to the rivals
for promotion: the rojiblancos are back
and they're gunning for promotion!
CD
Javea started well enough, passing
the ball confidently around the centre
of the field. However it would be the
visitors who would have the first real
chance of the game when Angen fired
a free-kick low and hard from 30 yards
and goalkeeper RUIBERRIZ needed to be
on top form to dive to his left and
push the ball wide of the right-hand
post.
Three
minutes later Javea took to the lead.
ONIEVA flicked the ball on to DAVID
IVARS and the midfielder broke through
the defence only see his powerful shot
blocked well by goalkeeper Valentin.
The ball dropped loose and SCOTT was
quickest to pounce and stab the ball
under the advancing keeper to put the
rojiblancos into the lead with his first
goal for the club. SCOTT almost doubled
his tally midway through the first-half
when he rose well to meet a corner from
the right-hand side from CARLOS RIBES
but his header was blocked by an orange
shirt.
A
confident Javea worked hard to prise
open a stubborn defence and CARBONELL
did wonderfully well to release ONIEVA
down the right flank. The striker crossed
the ball and was met by SCOTT at the
far post but the Englishman couldn't
quite connect well enough and his effort
dropped wide of the left post.
Yet
Javea weren't going to have total control
of the game and Torrent could consider
themselves unlucky not to have won a
penalty on the half-hour mark. A delightful
ball through the middle decieved OCHANDO
and the former Benidorm man tussled
hard with Torrent's Moya, the latter
tumbling to the ground in a mass of
arms and legs inside the area. At first
it looked as if the referee would award
a penalty but instead produced a yellow
card to book Moya for diving. The striker
protested a little too much to Sr. Camarero
and received his marching orders with
an immediate second caution and subsequently
a red card. The player trudged dejectedly
from the pitch, still claiming innocence,
whilst his team-mates continued the
protest with the referee to no avail.
It was the last major incident of the
half.
The
second period opened with some dominance
from ten-man Torrent and within three
minutes they have forced an equaliser,
defender RUBEN SERRIO being shown a
yellow card for a foul in the area that
led to a penalty kick, a decision greeted
with plenty of protest from the rojiblancos
but, despite the precedent set in the
first-half, the referee opted not to
book anyone else. Torrent's Rubén dispatched
the penalty to equalise, custodian RUIBERRIZ
unlucky not to have blocked his second
penalty in two games.
The
goal woke up Javea and they swept forward
to regain an advantage. SCOTT was having
a terrific game and giving the opposition
defence all sorts of trouble. He pounced
on a great ball forward from YOUSSO
but was brought down clumsily by Rubén
just outside the area. As the home supporters
screamed for a penalty, both players
collapsed to the floor, the Torrent
man in obvious agony. The referee awarded
a free-kick a yard or so outside of
the area whilst booking Rubén as the
midfielder was stretchered from the
field of play.
The
rojiblancos should have taken the lead
midway through the second-half. CARLOS
RIBES fired a free-kick over the wall
from 30 yards, the ball beating the
despairing dive of the keeper but hitting
the right post. Amazingly OCHANDO headed
the rebound against the bar before SCOTT
somehow headed over from close range.
Four
minutes later the Englishman scored
his second, a thundering shot from some
15 yards through a crowded area which
nestled in the back of the net after
shaving the right-post. SCOTT thoroughly
enjoyed the moment, punching the air
and raising a sly salute to the Peńa
Javeamigos in the stands before celebrating
with his team-mates. Javea were back
in control.
The
rojiblancos put the game beyond doubt
three minutes from time when DAVID IVARS
collected a superb cross into the box
from substitute DINO, pushed across
the defender before firing low towards
goal, the ball deflecting off the left-hand
upright to cross the line and hand the
midfielder his first goal since his
return to the club and give Javea
a 3-1 victory and maximum point.
