Draw specialists drop one spot after eighth draw of the season

Sunday 2nd December 2018

JAVEA NEWS | UD Portuarios 0-0 CD Javea

Draw specialists CD Jávea extended their unbeaten run to 14 games after a 0-0 draw against UD Portuarios in Gandía, a game that the rojiblancos dominated but just couldn't convert their chances into goal. Jávea slip to fifth after being overtaken by UD Beniganim who won their game in hand but with the top three all losing, the rojiblancos remain just a couple of points outside the promotion play-off zone.

The game began with Jávea showing their clear intention to dominate the game, launching wave upon wave of attacks on the home side's goal. The rojiblancos used their wide men well, creating a lot of danger and making the home defence work hard to contain them. But for all the effort the chances were not taken to put the side into the lead and the game reached half-time goalless.

Portuarios began the second half stronger and began to work against the best defence in the league to seek out a goal that might bring that unbeaten run to an end. But the game soon turned into a battle of attrition with players on both sides tiring quickly and it concluded with neither side managing to find the back of the net and having to settle for a share of the spoils.

With just six goals conceded in 14 games, CD Jávea have the best defence in the league in front of leaders UD Castellonense (8) and UD Tavernes (2nd, 14) and CD Dénia (3rd, 14). But, for all the great effort at the back, the club isn't scoring enough goals with just 16, strikes that might have converted some of those eight draws into wins, a few extra points that might have seen the rojiblancos sitting quite comfortably in the top three. This weekend they will be hosting UD Carcaixent at the Campo d'Esports Municipal who have climbed to 11th spot after defeating CD Dénia 1-0.
