JAVEA NEWS | Javea Players Theatre Group donate lighting to Casa de Cultura Xàbia

The Javea Players Theatre Company, formed by British residents in Xàbia, has donated a set of professional lighting to the Ayuntamiento de Xàbia for use in the theatre area in the Casa de Cultura in Plaça de Baix in the heart of the historic centre.

The amateur group want to collaborate with the Department of Culture, headed by councillor Quico Moragues, to improve the theatre space and they hope that all the associations and individuals who use it, especially the other theatre groups in the town, will be able to use the new lighting installations.

Representatives from the theatre company took the opportunity to talk with the councillor and thank him for the support of his department as well as talk about the latest project that they are working on which is a version of "My Fair Lady" which will be performed in March.

The Jávea Players was formed in 1976 and based its performances in the old Casa de la Falange (which is now the Casa de Cultura) until the building was declared too dangerous and was pulled down. After a move to Benitatxell in 1987 and Gata five years later, the theatre group returned to Jávea in 1997 when it purchased a premises in the Thiviers neighbourhood which has become the Jávea Players Theatre Studio. With some five productions every year, including the popular summer dinner and show, the group has become a vibrant and popular society for those with a love of theatre and performing.
