Favio scores to cancel out Jaume opener; Jávea unlucky not to grab all three points

Sunday 28th October 2018

CD Jávea slipped to fifth spot after carving out a difficult draw against CD Monte Sion in Torrent with Favio Osorio clinching the equaliser late in a game which was disrupted by heavy rain. It's getting tight at the top in these early stages of the season with just two points separating second spot from eighth position but the rojiblancos are in amongst the pacesetters through merit.

CD Monte Sion had the first chance of the game through Bermejo but he failed to take it. Jávea left it until late in the first half to have their first real opportunity of the game through Ferrán but the shot was saved by the home keeper Álex. A few minutes later the same player shot wide of the post. But then the hosts broke the deadlock when a shot from Jaume beat goalkeeper Edu Samblas to put Monte Sion in the lead at half-time.

The second half saw Jávea wrestle control of the game but they had to defend well at times with keeper Edu on top form with a one-on-one against Jaume. The rojiblancos saw chances through Palau who shot wide and Favio who saw his effort saved by the keeper. On 60 minutes there was a penalty claim when Michael was brought down in the area but the referee waved away the demands for a spot kick, booking the player for his persistent complaints.

On 80 minutes Jávea finally found the equaliser went Favio collected a great pass from Paco and slid the ball past the keeper to score. The hosts complained bitterly that there was a handball in the build up to the goal but the referee waved away their protests. Rather than settle for a share of the spoils, the rojiblancos pushed for the winner with both Cristian and Palau going close to snatching all three points. In the excitement midfielder Salom received a second yellow, reducing Jávea to ten men but still they pushed until the final whistle.

CD Jávea will be hosting league leaders UD Castellonense in the re-arranged round 8 game on Thursday 1st November, kick-off at midday.
