the Town Council of Xàbia has hired a form of free transport to enable people
to go down to Granadella beach, the Granadella tourist train. During the month
and a half that it will be in service the tourist train going to the Playa de
la Granadella will cost Xabia’s locals and residents € 61,600.
price, Xábia’s Popular Party propose that the Town Hall should consider whether,
for next year, it would be more advantageous to buy a tourist train and make it
profitable or amortize it as a municipal service. In this way, the financial
return would come from those who pay directly for the service; the majority do not
have the opportunity to enjoy it. Besides it is unfair for other tourist and
commercial areas of Xàbia.
With such a
lot of money earmarked for the hiring of the train, the Xábia’s Popular Party wonder
if, instead of offering free transport to go to the beach at Granadella, we
could, with that same money, offer free transport for students and for athletes
who need transport to and from the town.
We also denounce the mismanagement and the delay in
obtaining the specifications necessary
for the operation of the Summer cinema, "Vora Mar", scheduled for the
two main Summer months. This cinema season should have started in July, but, up
to now, it has still not started."
