The new season will kick off with an away trip to L'Olleria

Thursday 26th July 2018

JAVEA NEWS | CD Javea 2018/19

The players of CD Javea report for pre-season training this evening and begin preparations for the new season which will kick off at the beginning of September with an away trip to newly-promoted CF L'Olleria. As reported at the end of last month, the rojiblancos will remain in Group III of the Regional Preferente for the new season which will star on the weekend of the 1st-2nd September and conclude on 18th/19th May next year.

CD Jávea finished a disappointing 7th last season, some 16 points adrift of the top three. They had looked comfortable for competing for one of those play-off spots during a period in late autumn and early winter when they lost just three times and a number of important wins lifted them into third spot. However the curse of the new stand seemed to strike the side after a return to the football ground after a two-game exile in Benissa and the final half of the season saw just six victories from 17 games.

Despite the disappointment, coach Antonio Villaescusa would be offered a third season at the helm and the club has spent the early summer making some important signings to assist him in building as strong a squad as possible for the new campaign. Returning for another season will be Álvaro, Lucas Bou, Marcos Bisquert, Michael, Paolo, Pau, Rafa del Castillo, Roberto and Rubén Ortolá; popular goalkeeper Edu Samblas is also returning to the side after a successful spell with Group III champions Atzeneta CF. They will be joined by several new signings including midfielders Vicent Palau, Adrián Salom and Vicent Sellens, all of whom played for UD Beniganim in the last campaign, a side which just missed out of a play-off spot, striker Favio Osorio who scored seven goals for CD Polop last season, Cristian de Luis who scored seven times for CD Dénia during the last campaign and has experience of Third Division football as well as playing in the United States with Lane United in the USL's Premier Development Division and the final signing made this week with saw the arrival of midfielder Ferrán Molina, a midfielder who was with CD Dénia last season and once trained with English side Leicester City.

The fixture list has been confirmed and released by the FFCV. The much-anticipated Marina Alta derbies between CD Jávea and CD Dénia will be taking place on the weekends of the 10/11 November 2018 at the Estadio Diego Mena Cuesta and 30/31 March 2019 at the Campo d'Esport Municipal in Xàbia. The other Marina Alta derby against Pego CF, who won promotion back to the Regional Preferente at the end of last season, will be taking place on the following weekends with the Rogets visiting the Campo Municipal d'Esports on the weekend of the 17/18 November 2018 and then the rojiblancos making the short journey to the Campo Municipal Cervantes on the weekend of the 06/07 April 2019. There will also be a pre-Christmas home game against Muro CF on the weekend of the 22/23 December.
