XÀBIA STARTS PREPARING BEACHES FOR SUMMER
Seasonal facilities will also be prepared after bidding for 2018-2021 ended

The Department of Services has started preparing its beaches for the summer season with the pebble beaches of Benissero, La Grava, La Granadella and La Barraca being levelled by machinery in readiness for the influx of tourists looking to relax and enjoy their natural surroundings. In addition the winning bids for the seasonal services, including the popular chiringuitos now have ten days for formally submit all documentation before the contracts are issued.

The pebble beaches are being levelled after the off-season onslaught from stormy seas to provide comfortable relaxing areas as well as easier access to the water to cool down during the heat of the summer.Work has also been carried out to prepare the areas where the seasonal services will be installed after the conclusion of the auction process. Councillor Kika Mata (Services) explained that the businesses which obtained the highest scores for each of the concessions (the five chiringuito positions, two marine facilities and the hammocks and umbrellas of La Grava, Portitxol, La Granadella and El Arenal) now have ten days to formally accept and submit all the relevant documentation before formalizing the contracts for the 2018-2021 period. As reported yesterday, the chiringuitos have attracted record bids to secure the right to trade over the next four years with the position closest to the Arenal attracting a bid of over 85,000 euros, almost five times the starting price of 15,000 euros.

With regards to security, the Arenal beach with have lifeguard surveillance and first aid support from this weekend. Being the only sandy beach in Xàbia and therefore the most popular in terms of visitors, it is always the first to have the lifeguard service in position. From this weekend it will be available from 11.00am and 7.00pm and from the second half of June it will be extended to all beaches.


XÀBIA PONE A PUNTO LAS PLAYAS PARA EL VERANO

El departamento de Servicios de Xàbia está preparando las playas para el inicio de la temporada de baño. Desde hace unos días se están nivelando con maquinaria las playas de cantos rodados como el Montañar, la Grava, la Granadella y la Barraca. También se ha puesto a punto las zonas donde se instalarán los servicios de temporada después del proceso de subasta que ha terminado hoy. Respecto a este tema, la concejala de Servicios, Kika Mata, ha explicado que ahora los empresarios que han obtenido la mayor puntuación en cada una de las concesiones (se ha licitado 5 chiringuitos, dos concesiones náuticas y las hamacas y sombrillas de La Grava, Portitxol y Granadella y el Arenal) tienen ahora 10 días para aceptar formalmente y presentar toda la documentación antes de formalizar los contratos.

También en materia de playas, el Arenal dispone ya de vigilancia y socorrismo para el baño desde este fin de semana. Esta playa, al ser la única de arena y la que mayor uso presenta, es cada verano la primera en tener vigilancia. Por el momento, se presta de 11 a 19 horas. A partir de la segunda quincena de junio se ampliará a todas las playas.
