Two walks discover the history of Xàbia and the ancient olive tree

JAVEA NEWS | Easter Guided Walks

The Department of Tourism has organised two special guided walks for the Easter weekend, two routes through which one can discover the history of Xàbia through theatrical performances and enjoy the wonderful landscape of the valley as well as explore the ancient olive tree.

The first event will be taking place on the morning of Good Friday in the historic centre of Xàbia. Entitled 'El Tesoro de Xàbia' [The Treasure of Xàbia], it is a theatrical route in which a group of actors dressed in historical costumes will be explaining the history of the town. Characters who will be telling the story will include an architect from the 15th century, a mystic from the 16th century, a mayor and businessman from the 19th century, French soldiers, ghosts, guerillas and pirates. The route will be in Spanish and has been designed to be enjoyed by all the family. Registration is essential through any of the Tourist Offices or by telephoning 96-579-43-56 and the price is 8 euros for adults and 4 euros children; the under 8s go free.

The second route will be on Saturday 31st March and will be a guided walk through the valley of Montgó during which visits will be made to some of the conquest chapels as well as the ancient olive tree, thought to be almost 1,000 years old. It's an easy walk starting at 10.00am from the chapel of Popúl on the Jesús Pobre road. Once again, the route will be in Spanish and registration can be made through any of the Tourist Offices and the price is 6 euros for adults, 3 euros for children with the under 8s going free.

Turismo propone dos rutas para esta Semana Santa en Xàbia

El departamento de Turismo de Xàbia ha programado para esta Semana Santa dos rutas con las que conocer de forma amena el patrimonio y la historia local. La primera es el Viernes Santo (30 de marzo) por la mañana en el Centro Histórico y lleva el título “El Tesoro de Xàbia”. De carácter teatralizado, estará guiada por un grupo de actores que irán presentando a personajes como un arquitecto del siglo XV, un místico del XVI, un alcalde y un hombre de negocios del XIX, soldados franceses, fantasmas, guerrilleros y piratas. La ruta es en castellano y pensada para disfrutar en familia. Tiene un precio de 8 euros para los adultos, 4 euros para niños y niñas mayores de 8 años. Las inscripciones se realizan en las oficinas de turismo (telf. 965794356).

El sábado 31 de marzo se propone una excursión senderista por el valle del Montgó en la que conocer un olivo milenario y algunas de las ermitas denominadas “de conquista”. De nivel muy fácil, empezará a las 10 horas en la ermita del Pópul (en la carretera a Jesús Pobre). En este caso, la inscripción tiene un precio de  6 euros para adultos, tres para niños y es gratuita para menores de 8 años.
