JAVEA NEWS | Resurfacing

The Ayuntamiento de Xàbia has started a new road resurfacing campaign for 2017, a project that will involve asphalting more than 42,000 square metres of road network in the municipality. This project forms part of the Council's continued investment into the improvement of the road network of the municipality which had been neglected for so long and with it the safety and security of the movement of vehicles and pedestrians around the town.

Councillor Kika Mata (Works), the campaign will concentrate of five different areas, beginning in the areas of Cap de la Nau and Cap Martí and the moving onto streets in Montgó-Valls, Lluca, Tarraula and the town centre. These areas were identified as being in need of resurfacing after an inventory was taken by the Department of Works earlier in the year.

In total, the road improvement project is costing some 368,472 euros and is being carried out by Guerola Transer SLU who have a three month deadline to complete the project. The company won the contract to carry out "Operación Asfalto 2017" after submitting a proposal that represented almost 72,000 euros of savings on the original estimated budget of just over 434,300 euros. All tenders were considered which offered the lowest economical solution to resurfacing the roads in these zones.
