pollution in Xàbia will have to kept to a minimum
during siesta hours this summer after mayor José
Chulvi signed an edict to prohibit works which produce
noise and vibration which upset both residents and holidaymakers
alike. Works which produce such noise and vibration will
now only be allowed from 9.00am until 3.00pm and then
from 5.00pm until 8.00pm, meaning that it is now prohibited
to produce these levels of noise between 3.00pm and
5.00pm and then after 8.00pm until the following morning.
Ayuntamiento de Xàbia will monitor those activities
which are likely to cause a nuisance such as the excavation
of land whilst the Policía Local will also monitor
compliance with the new edict and initiative disciplinary
proceedings for violations if necessary. In addition,
in the case of serious inconvenience to neighbours,
the Ayuntamiento may order the immediate suspension of
work until the discrepancies have been corrected.
new prohibition, which affects both private and public
works, runs from Wednesday 15th July until Monday 31st
August inclusive with the only exceptions being those
works conducted by the Administration to maintain basic
services and road conditions.
mayor said that this new edict shows that the Ayuntamiento
is listening to the complaints whilst appreciating the
tourist character of the town: "Compliance with
these restrictions are in the interests of the community".
