JAVEA
PROMOTES ITS TOURISM POTENTIAL AT FITUR TRADE FAIR Friday 20th
January 2012
Representatives
from Jávea have been working overtime to 'sell' the
town to the tourism industry at the influential FITUR
trade fair in Madrid. Councillor Antonio Miragell, responsible
for Tourism in the town, has reported positive feedback
from trade professionals and talked about the opportunity
to speak with Anselmo de la Cruz, the general manager
of the international tourism group 'Transhotel' about
possible investment in Jávea. The councillor has also
made steps for collaboration with tourist guides from
Benidorm and Valencia to encourage tours that stop in
Jávea and talked about promotion in other regions in
Spain such as Castilla La Mancha as well as the possibility
of modernising tourism promotion potential after discussions
with a computer company.
During
the trade fair, Miragell made a presentation with the
Provincial Tourism Deputy Joaquin Albaladejo, showcasing
all new promotion material about Jávea at a press
conference held at the Costa Blanca stand. The councillor
presented information about hiking and biking routes
as well as the fantastic experience of the 'Nit
dels Focs' and its potential as a fiesta of tourist
interest. This event will help to enhance the second
phase of FITUR which begins on Saturday 22nd and is
open to the public. Fogueres Queen Ana Bisquert will
be present in full traditional costume to help promote
the town as a premier holiday spot of the future.
Earlier
during the fair, Jávea's information stand received
visits from Antonio Fabra, president of the Generalitat
Valenciana and Lola Johnson, the Valencian Government
Councillor of Tourism, and both were presented with
replicas of the official title of Villa de Xàbia
which was afforded to the town by Felipe III in 1612.
Jorse Alart, general secretary of PSPV, also visited
the stand to discover more about Jávea, the jewel of
the Costa Blanca.
Despite
the economic pressures of the 'crisis' which have forced
the hand of the new administration in Jávea to follow
a policy of austerity during 2012, the town's presence
at FITUR should be seen as a commitment to its continued
potential as a tourist destination. Such determination
has seen Jávea join just a handful of Costa Blanca municipalities
who have commited themselves and their local budget
to promote themselves. For all the enthusiasm, it would
be hard to think that Jávea would not gain from the
experience.
