NEW
SUBSCRIBERS TO AMJASA OFFERED SIX MONTHS TO PAY
CONNECTION FEE Tuesday 17th
January 2012
The
Board of Directors of AMJASA, the municipal water company,
have agreed to implement a new system of deferred payment
for new customers who apply for connection. The agreed
proposal was for new subcribers to be able to split
the connection fee into six monthly payments. However,
the board were quick to point out that failure to meet
the final balance after those six months would result
in an immediate cut of supply.
The
board feel that this new measure demonstrates the company's
appreciation of the current period of 'crisis' and the
subsequent economic difficulties suffered by residents
and businesses across Jávea by offering a more affordable
connection fee for those who are building a new house
or opening a new business premises. The company is aware
that the one-off fee is usually quite high, especially
the obligation to make a contribution to the municipal
desalination plant.
The
board also reached an agreement to modify the rules
regarding leakages which would be more beneficial to
the customer. At the moment, the customer is penalised
for abnormal consumption caused by an internal fault
or neglect. Changes will be applied that will monitor high
consumption of both domestic and irrigation installations
that may be attributable to a fault.
