XABIA
VIVA CONTINUE TO HELP IMPROVE JAVEA Thursday 15th
December 2011
It's
going to be busy weekend for XABIA
VIVA.
After the success of the clean-up operation of Cala
Sardinera back in October, the group will be clearing
rubbish from the slopes of the Santa Llúcia hill
on the morning on Sunday 18th December. According to
president José Buigues, the association had received
the suggestion to clean the climb to the ermita of Santa
Llúcia from several neighbours in the area
and a brief recce confirmed that there were indeed several
points where rubbish has been piled up. Therefore it
was decided to undertake a clean-up campaign of an important
part of Jávea's heritage.
Although
the activity is to be achieved in association with the
town hall's Department of Environment, Buigues stressed
that Xàbia Viva "under no circumstances" wanted
to replace the responsibilities of the cleaning contractor
for whom all Xabieros paid "good money" but
merely wanted to "cover their shortcomings".
Therefore, the campaign is to cover the route of the
"Senda del Portitxol" climb to the
ermita which has difficult access for the vehicles of
the cleaning services.
Those
wishing to assist Xàbia Viva with the clean-up operation,
a valuable contribution to the town's overall appearance,
should meet at the Plaza de la Constitución at 9:00am
on Sunday 18th December.
On
the evening of Friday 16th December, XABIA VIVA will
celebrate its AGM through which it will present the
balance of activities that have taken place through
2011. The association was created through a desire to
defend the historical, cultural and environmental assets
of Jávea and, after the legal formalities such as the
presentation of reports from the President and the Treasurer,
the meeting will allow the association to explain how
they aim to achieve such an objective and how they are
funded.
The
XABIA VIVA president, José Buigues, invites all its
members as well and those looking to join this young
and dynamic project to participate in the AGM which
begins at 7:30pm (Primera Convocatoria) and 8.30pm
(Segunda Convocatoria) in the meeting room of
the Soler Blasco Museum, the entrance to which is in
Carrer Major opposite the town hall "Area Económica"
building.
