WITH
nine games to go - five of which are at
home - the rojiblancos sit nicely
in fifth spot just a point outside of the
promotion play-off zone and effectively with
a game in hand. The side has exceeded all
expectations this season and have become
one of the most feared teams in the Preferente.
We know that when they play well, they are
a match for any team in this league, and
it goes without saying that we can play
our part in the run-in to the end of the
season.
The
fans of CD Javea - and the Peñ JAVEAMIGOS
in particular - have been very much at the
forefront of the club's success this season.
The team have travelled around the province
with the comfortable knowledge that noisy
support will follow them. Even defeat against
league leaders UD Horadada couldn't dampen
the spirits of the modest travelling army
who lifted their voices for the team until
the bitter end. Even the report in The Leader
newspaper acknowledged such passion for
the club when, after the third goal was
superbly put away by Horadada's Ernesto,
reporter Kevin Reardon reported that
"Javea were completely stunned but
... their followers continued to provide
their first-class vocal support".
Now
it is more important than ever to lend our
support to the lads as we aim for the unthinkable:
a play-off spot and a chance of promotion
to the Third Division. And we can take a
leaf out of the book of football ultras
by bringing more colour and fun to the games.
Whilst the club have asked us not to use
confetti at the Municipal Stadium - it looked
great during our opening game of the season
against Pinoso CF but apparently caused
absolute havoc for the cleaning staff who
struggled to remove it from the artificial
pitch! - there is absolutely no problem
with brining a touch of colour to the stands
by brining along red-and-white flags, maybe
some streamers, and (dare I say) some more
musical instruments! And we can all lift
our voices a little higher, starting with
the next game (at home) against Santa Pola
CF on Sunday 30th March, kick-off 4.30pm
- and don't forget to change your clocks!
If
anyone can help with the supply of flags
and banners (sponsored or not), please
contact me as soon as possible.
Coach
Travel
As
well as raising the proverbial roof at home,
we can try and do the same away from Javea.
We have four away games remaining - all
very tough encounters against Alicante CF
"B", CD Polop, Torrellano CF and
Monovar CD. Whilst it has to be said
that away support has always been excellent,
we could do a lot more by travelling down
en masse to give our lads the confidence
to go that extra mile and claim a play-off
spot. At the beginning of the season, the
Peña JAVEAMIGOS negotiated a favourable
deal with the club for a supporter's coach
as and when we required one. However, there
are conditions: we would have to book a
coach at least five days in advance which
means that waiting until the day before
to try and book a seat is just not feasible.
Additionally, we need to have at least 30
travellers to make the coach financially
viable (i.e. €10 a head); the price would
of course be reduced at the numbers increase.
I know many people have been disappointed
that we haven't run transport to some games
but the option has really been put out of
our reach for a variety of reasons. Still,
interest in the club continues to grow and
there can't be any harm in trying to maximise
attendance at the remaining away games.
However, in order to run a coach to a game,
we need to have sufficient confirmations
(with deposit paid) by the previous Monday
so take a look at the fixtures below, check
your diaries and then drop us a line.

Conduct
We
had a few complaints about the conduct of
some so-called fans during the last home
game against CD El Campello. The Peña JAVEAMIGOS
would like to distance themselves from these
people and remind ALL supporters
that persistent swearing and racial abuse
will NOT be tolerated by either the Peña
JAVEAMIGOS or by CD Javea. We are both
committed to providing a safe environment
for all the family and those watching the
game who are unable to do so without persistent
swearing or racial abuse will be asked
to leave immediately and will not be
welcome back to the club.
