The Merchants Association of Duanes del Mar (La Asociación de Comerciantes de Duanes del Mar) has released details of the second Trade Fair that has complemented the summer tourist season in Jávea. The president of the association, Giovanni Sánchez, explained that from Thursday 11th August to Monday 15th August inclusive, some eighteen commercial exhibitors will be taking part in the trade fair on the central area of Avenida Jaime I in the port area. In addition, there will be a stand that will be representing 22 hosteleries in the municipality, an ice cream parlour, and, for the first time, a mobile "chiringuito" or beach bar called 'La Oliva Negra'. Sánchez added that the fair will be complemented by musical performances. On Thursday evening, one can enjoy a jazz group, continuing the thematic attractions that have complemented the XabiaJazz music festival throughout the summer. On Saturday evening, the rock band SFM will be performing followed by Cuban guitarist Inti Cardoso on Sunday. These performances have been made possible with the support of the hostelries of the Marina Espańola.

The trade fair will be held on one weekend each month and the next edition will be from 16-18 September. Isaac Placenase, a businessmen located in the port, said that this event aims to "spoil" the tourist so that they leave with the idea of returning next year. The fair is not the only activity that will be taking place in the port as the hostelries of C/. Andrés Lambert and Avda. Marina Espańola preparing performances and activities to complement the happy atmosphere through the streets.

However, as stressed by Placenase, the association does not want to stick to promoting its own neighbourhood and have been building ties with business associations in the old town and the Arenal for each event, regardless of where it is held, to give the visitor a general idea of "all that is Jávea on a commercial level" and to discover the best shopping and the finest restaurants. Juan Luis Cardona, councillor for Economic Development, highlights the involvement of the collective will to offer more leisure to all those who visit the port and shows a willingness of the council to work with all businesses. In fact, Cardona recalled that in the last council meeting, the council approved a new cooperation agreement with the merchant's association in the port which will receive a grant of 5,000 euros.
