JAVEA
BEGINS FESTIVE PERIOD WITH PORT CHRISTMAS FAIR Friday 1st
December 2011
Christmas
is fast approaching and the shops and businesses of
the port of Jávea have got together with the town hall's
Department of Economic Development to offer a special
Christmas Fair for everyone to come and enjoy some shopping
along with entertainment and special activities for
children as we begin to prepare for the festive period.
Geovanny Sánchez, president of ACEAM, the port's business
association, explained that, instead of bringing in
outside artsans, the association has chosen to make
local products available in the street and reward customers
who make purchases of more than 15 euros with gift vouchers
which would be redeemable for horse carriage rides,
inflatable games and even a giant sphere experience
for children. These events will be available in the
Plaza Jaume I, the site of the Christmas fair.
Participating
local shops and restauranteurs will be distinguishable
from the outside thanks to red carpets at their doors
and festive stars placed in the window. Among those
taking part with be clothing and accessory stores, jewellery
stores, gift and decoration experts, perfumeries, hairdressing
and beauty salons, bookstores, grocery stores and delicatessens.
In addition, there will be many bars and restaurants
throughout the port, paricularly in Avda. Marina Española,
C/. Andrés Lambert and C/. Santísimo Cristo del Mar,
who will be offering special menus during the fair,
which will begin on Saturday 3rd December and continue
until Tuesday 6th December, opening over two periods
from 11.00am to 2.00pm and 5.00pm to 8.00pm.
During
the fair, centred on Plaza Jaume I, there will be favourite
craftsmen from the Arenal as well as the chiringuito
bar Oliva Negra which will offer crêpes, soups,
hot chocolate and wine. Decorated with the perfect Christmas
atmosphere, the fair will also welcome the first appearance
of one of the pages of the Reyes Magos - the
Three Kings - who will start to collect letters from
the children.
