The Summit of Montgó - from Jávea
Distance: 8 kilometres

The massive hulk of Montgó dominates Jávea and many have no doubt stared at its high summit, some 753m above the sea, and wondered just what it would be like to stand on its lofty peak from where the distant island of Ibiza can be seen as well as a stunning panorama of the inland mountains of this part of Spain. In fact, it's not as tough as it looks and the mountain top welcomes thousands of visitors each year, all of whom have made that extra effort to reach the summit from a variety of directions. This route describes the simplest route to the top from the flat plateau of La Plana, a steep climb up the eastern face of the mountain by way of a series of zig-zags which carry the narrow but well-trodden path to the bottom of a modest ridge which provides an exciting scramble to the summit.
