Founded in 2009, Xabia Rugby Club is still in its infancy. Formally known as the "Javea Bulls", the club underwent re-branding in 2011 and has continued to grow strongly ever since.

The First Team plays its rugby in the Valencia Segunda División ith a multi-cultural mix of players which boats a wide range of ages! The club is also proud of its Junior Section which has continued to grow and is now producing some good players of the future. Xabia Rugby Club always welcomes players of any age and ability so if you want to play the game or simply be involved with the club, do contact them.

Xabia Rugby Club is also looking for sponsorship for the forthcoming season 2011/2012.

Xàbia Rugby Club keeps strong links within the local community working with local schools, colleges and local charities.

LATEST NEWS

Training takes place twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at our home ground on the rugby pitch behind Javea Football Club, on Carrer Moli La Safranera, on the south side of the Old Town of Javea. Juniors start training at 19:00, and Seniors at 20:00.

SENIOR RUGBY 2011-12
As Xabia Rugby Club continues to build it has been decided that the senior team will play friendly matches this season against clubs in the Valencia & Murcia regions. This releases the pressure of the seniors to perform in league rugby and enables the squad to play social rugby which will help players new to the game to develop their skills.

JUNIOR RUGBY
The junior section continues to go from strength to strength, with training being held on our home ground from 6.30pm on Thursday’s.

MATCH REPORT
Saturday saw Xabia travel to La Safor, Gandia to play a friendly match and were joined by players from Denia and Tavernes rugby clubs. The day proved to be a great success with the game being played in 20 minute intervals, flowing hard fought rugby with good commitment from both sides. The game was used to give players with lesser experience a chance to improve their skills and play under game pressure, a very worthwhile exercise with the players excelling. La Safor again proved to be great hosts and 3rd time was spent reminiscing about our season when we all played in the same team.

RUGBY WORLD CUP
While England are in the Rugby World Cup, we will be enjoying the matches in Tiffany's Bar, on the Jesus Pobre Road, complemented with bacon sandwiches.

As you are aware, the forthcoming rugby season is rapidly approaching and Xàbia Rugby Club is preparing hard for it. The reason for my email is pure and simple: our club needs help in order for it to survive, finance being one of the most important factors.

The pitch needs immediate attention. Myself and the lads are cutting the grass with our trusted lawn mowers (not an easy task!) and we have tried to repair the sprinkler system but the fact remains that there isn't enough water pressure for the sprinklers to be effective. Therefore we have to purchase a pump and a large deposition at a cost of 2,000 euros, a sum we just haven't got! We don't receive any funding from the council so we have to raise funds ourselves.

We have a new website live - www.javearugbyclub.com - which will keep you informed of all that is happening with the club, the team's performance, the latest news and events, etc. so please do visit and let me have your thoughts for any improvements you think we could make.

We also need playing kit and we are working hard to entice a major sponsor. We have already had a fantastic contribution from RabbitFX and we are currently talking to two companies for further sponsorship. For those of you that know us well, I believe we have changed the club for the better in a very short period of time. However, without the financial and physical help, I feel that we may lose the battle. Ideally we're seeking volunteers for the following positions: head of Junior Rugby, Junior Rugby coach, Groundsman and Events Manager.

It would help us incredibly if we could rely on volunteers to help with the above positions, so if you know of anyone who could contribute to help this club grow then please do contact me for it would be very much appreciated.

From 1st September 2011, Xabia Rugby Club will be operating a membership scheme for those who wish to become social members of players on both a junior and senior level for the forthcoming season. This membership will entitle you to discounts on future events and also it's a way to help the club survive facing the tough economic challenges ahead.

On the playing side, training will begin in September for both junior and seniors on our pitch behind the football ground. More players f any age and ability are needed, so please come and try or tell your friends to come and play!
