Footworks Dance School and Studios is based in Javea, Spain. Offering professional ISTD dance training and fitness classes in the beautiful surroundings of the two light and airy studios.
FOOTWORKS Dance School is now owned and run by Elena Victoria Gwyn-Jones who is currently an ISTD DDI teacher and she will also be DDE qualified soon. The ISTD is a government recognised organisation and the exams taken are Ofqual recognised, and are also UCAS points.
Elena has been studying dancing since the age of 3 having been taught by ISTD and RAD teachers, she has also put on a few professional productions and was offered this amazing opportunity to own her own dance school! Teaching dancing is her passion and she has been assisting her teachers since the age of 13. Elena teaches Ballet, Tap and Modern with the ISTD syllabus.
Musical Theatre and Performance Workshops are taught by Suzanne Millington who is the newest member to the Footworks faculty. Suzanne Millington LLAM (hons)is a teacher who prides herself on the achievements of her students and works with pure energy to challenge each individual to reach their goals.
As the head of Performing Arts at The Lady Elizabeth School since 1996, she has created a department that excels in bringing out the best in all students in the three main disciplines of acting singing and dance. Previous students have gone on to train at top drama and dance schools and then toured with major productions. Others have featured in TV series such as BBCs Ordinary Lies and Coronation Street. Dancers have spent time as principals in Tokyo at Disneyland and on the Queen Mary 2 world tour. Her singing lessons have produced a professional opera singer and a successful pop singer/ songwriter. Other past pupils have taken the teaching route and one is now the head of a large PA department in Surrey. Not to mention Elena who has worked so hard to develop into the wonderful teacher that she is today.
Her various choirs have toured Europe and are highly acclaimed on the international school network. Suzanne has directed many shows over the last 20 years for children and adults.
In addition Suzanne was the director of Theatre Express, part time stage school in Javea, from 1994 until 2011. At its busiest time the studio boasted up to 200 students and produced 2 shows a year and 3 sets of vocational examinations. She also took troupes to perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London. After a break of 5 years, she feels a real excitement about the chance to work with young people from the community again and is overjoyed and proud to be working alongside Elena who has always been part of the family.
Her classes will focus on the development of the necessary skills to perform musical theatre and acting styles. With a thorough understanding of these skills the students will be equipped to apply them to show work and examinations. As the representative for LAMDA throughout Spain since 1995, Suzanne can offer the studio the opportunity to host examinations in musical theatre and acting twice a year.
